Unlocking Children's Gifts: A Journey Through Animation and the Convention on the Rights of the Child
00:00 / 02:00
The edUc21 collective, in its mission to disseminate the articles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child , invites you on an inspiring journey through the world of wordless animation. Through the Canadian collection Rights of the Heart , we embark on an adventure that celebrates the unique potential of every child.
Immerse yourself in the universe of the film An Artist , where we follow the story of a girl in her process of discovering and developing her artistic talents . This cinematographic work, like a beacon, illuminates Article 29 of the Convention, which highlights the fundamental role of education in the integral development of the child.
Through the lens of animation, the film invites us to reflect on the following crucial points:
The right of every child to develop their gifts and abilities: every human being is born with unique and unparalleled potential. It is the duty of the State and society to ensure that all children have access to opportunities that allow them to develop their talents and passions, whether in art, music, sports or any other area of knowledge.
Fostering respect for human rights: Education is essential to promote respect for human rights and the dignity of all people. Through education, children learn about their own rights and those of others, developing empathy, compassion and a sense of justice.
Valuing culture and identity: Education should be a space for celebrating cultural diversity and the identity of each child. It is important that school curricula and educational environments reflect the cultural richness of the community and promote respect for different traditions and customs.
By watching "An Artist" and reflecting on Article 29 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child , we are compelled to act towards a world where all children have the chance to develop their gifts and talents, contributing to the construction of a more just, inclusive and prosperous society for all.
The HEART RIGHTS collection was produced by the animation studio of the French Program of the National Film Office of Canada (NFB) , in collaboration with renowned partners such as the Canadian Agency for International Development, Culture Canada (Heritage Canada), Health Canada, Multiculturalism and Citizenship Canada, Société Radio-Canada and Première Medien GmbH & Co. SAMY, now an adult, portrayed dreams and hopes for society, using features that are very reminiscent of Basquiat, who also, when young, portrayed his everyday reality in a unique way, even through his alter ego SAMO.
